Yoga Bodhi is my Yoga studio based in Marblehead, MA.

Due to the Covid crisis, all current group classes are now streamlined on zoom for the safety of all concerned. Please check our schedule under “Yoga classes”.

Yoga Bodhi focuses on Yoga Master, BKS Iyengar’s fundamentals of alignment, sequencing, methodology and modifications in Asana (the physical postures) & Pranayama (yogic breathing). Meditation and the study of philosophical/spiritual principles of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras are also interwoven into the classes to introduce students to Yoga’s deeper dimensions.

The first and foremost practice we emphasize in classes is always “Ahimsa”, non-violence = Love & Compassion, the most important of Yoga principles. With this mindset, everyone is encouraged to listen closely to their bodies and work “intelligently” to get the most from what Yoga has to offer: inner peace, mobility, confidence and an overall sense of well being. Beginning with ourselves, may we spread this Peace and Compassion to All throughout the world!

MY STORY: Elizabeth O’Shea , Founder & Instructor

I went to my first yoga class at the most challenging and tumultuous times of my life. It was a time of great loss and change, when my mother was dying and I had just ended a long-term relationship. However, I had no idea at the time that yoga had healing, therapeutic qualities. I just thought it might help me become more flexible for a dance class I wanted to attend. Was I ever in for a surprise!

Not only did I immediately begin to feel more peaceful and calm -- a feeling that deepened during the weeks and months to come -- but there was another, even more amazing surprise: From the moment I walked into that yoga class, I was blown away by the overwhelming feeling that I had been there before and already knew exactly what the teacher was talking about. It was deja vu and instant transformation all at once!

I left not understanding what had really happened but immediately felt an incredible connection to the deepest part of my being, a warm feeling that I had “come home." And indeed I had. From that moment on, yoga and I were inseparable. I threw myself into it with a passion, and it blessed me with even more than I gave.

Eventually, at the urging of my lifelong teacher, Patricia Walden, I began teaching yoga. Not long after, I traveled to India to study with famed Yogi master BKS Iyengar, as well as with many other outstanding teachers throughout the years. I always wanted to make yoga more than a hobby; I wanted to make it a career.

To do this, I hired a life coach, which was another transformational experience in itself. After being coached, I opened up my Yoga Bodhi school to train others to become certified teachers. Eventually, I also became a certified hypnotherapist, a certified life coach and a “professor” of yoga at a local community college, where I now blend yoga philosophy and practice with life coaching. It is this combination that has sustained and nourished me throughout most of my life.

Today, I love guiding and challenging others to live their fullest life. It excites me every day to share my passions and invite all who want to enrich their lives through yoga and life coaching. I believe that when we share our gifts and passions, the whole world benefits.

Welcome to the Journey!
